The SDGs and Me: Youth Video Competition - Be heard and be seen! [scroll down for Myanmar version]
06 November 2020
The United Nations in Myanmar is inviting young people between the ages of 11 to 17 to take part in a one-of-a-kind social awareness smart-phone video contest.
‘The SDGs and Me’ aims to raise awareness about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by giving young Myanmar people a chance to speak up and share their vision of the future.
Also known as the Global Goals, the SDGs were adopted by all UN Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. This year the United Nations marks its 75th anniversary, and wants people to participate in conversations about its future role.
Today’s youth play an important role in achieving these Goals. Learn more about the SDGsand produce a short video on your smart phone nominating your favourite SDGs and showing how they can improve the lives of people around you.
Be creative and inspire others with your vision of the future.
Individual and team entries are allowed as long as all participants are aged 11-17.
Two prizes of 400,000MMK will be given to the most “Popular” video judged by the highest number of likes on Facebook and “Judges’ Choice” video.
Use your imagination!
You are free to choose how you present your ideas through your video. Your video could take the form of an inspiring presentation, a performance or song, a mini-documentary, or any other format you choose. The only requirement is that your video should put across your thoughts and ideas relating to your chosen SDG.
But be sure that the content and idea is purely yours and don’t use someone else’s music or work.
Enter the contest by filling in the entry form below.
Email your finished video (maximum 3 minutes) and your nomination form below. It should be signed by parent or guardian and sent to email@example.com by 5pm Saturday, December 5.
The video must be easily seen on a smart phone, so use “Horizontal” not “Portrait” and be careful with the microphone. We want to hear your voices loud and proud.
Your entry must be created by you or your team using a smart phone. It must not use material created by other people such as music and songs and video clips unless you have permission in writing from the owners.
