Statement on the Killing of U Htike Zaw

Yangon –  The United Nations in Myanmar condemns the killing of newly-elected Member of Parliament (Amyotha Hluttaw) for the National League for Democracy (NLD), U Htike Zaw, which occurred in Kyaukme Township in Shan State on 21 November 2020. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends, and hope those responsible can be swiftly identified and brought to justice.
