Highlights
Three months after UNHCR has declared Level 2 Emergency (second highest in the organization’s scale) following the devastating earthquake in the central Myanmar, communities in the affected areas continue to face needs for assistance. Seasonal flooding has led to the relocation of some sites. Mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) needs remain a significant concern among the affected population.
UNHCR continues its outreach efforts while balancing the security and access situation and the delivery of essential relief items and shelter support. It also continues to work closely with key stakeholders to identify protection needs and provide appropriate responses.
To date, over 127,000 people have received assistance from UNHCR and partners. More than 140,000 have been reached through protection monitoring and assessments, which continue to guide targeted support for the most vulnerable, including those with specific needs.
