Myanmar Landmine/ERW Incidents Information - Factsheet (January-June 2024)

Highlights
According to recent monitoring of landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) incidents in the first six months of 2024, a total of 692 casualties have been reported nationwide. This figure already represents 66% of the total casualties reported in 2023, which were 1,052.
Delving into the regional breakdown, Shan State recorded the highest number of casualties, accounting for 24% of the total. Sagaing Region and Rakhine State followed with 17% and 12%, respectively. The remaining regions of the country collectively accounted for 47% of the total casualties.
Children constitute 32% of the total casualties arising from landmine and ERW explosions across the country. It is important to note that these figures only reflect civilian casualties.
