Statement by the United Nations in Myanmar

Further to the call by the Secretary-General on 21 April for a full and transparent investigation into the incident and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice, the United Nations in Myanmar welcomes the establishment by the President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar of an investigation committee on the attack on a UN vehicle in Minbya Township in Rakhine state which resulted in the death of Mr. Pyae Sone Win Maung, a personnel (driver) of the World Health Organization (WHO).

မင်းပြားမြို့နယ်အတွင်းဖြစ်ရပ်အပေါ်တွင် ပြည့်စုံပြီး ပွင့်လင်းမြင်သာသော စုံစမ်းစစ်ဆေးမှုတစ်ခု ရှိလာစေရန် နှင့် ပြစ်မှုကျူးလွန်သူများအား ထိုက်တန်သောပြစ်ဒဏ်ပေးရန် ကုလသမဂ္ဂအထွေထွေအတွင်းရေးမှူးချုပ်က ဧပြီလ ၂၁ ရက်နေ့တွင် တိုက်တွန်းပြောကြားခဲ့သည်နှင့် စပ်လျဥ်း၍ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံဆိုင်ရာ ကုလသမဂ္ဂသည် ကုလသမဂ္ဂအဖွဲ့အစည်းသုံးမော်တော်ယာဥ်တစ်စီးကို ရခိုင်ပြည်နယ် မင်းပြားမြို့နယ်အတွင်း ပစ်ခတ် တိုက်ခိုက်ခဲ့ရာတွင် ကမ္ဘာ့ကျန်းမာရေးအဖွဲ့မှ ယာဥ်မောင်း ဦးပြည့်စုံဝင်းမောင် သေဆုံးခဲ့ရသည့် ဖြစ်ရပ်နှင့် ပတ်သက်၍ ပြည်ထောင်စုသမ္မတ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတော်၏ နိုင်ငံတော်သမ္မတက စုံစမ်းစစ်ဆေးရေး ကော်မတီတစ်ရပ် ဖွဲ့စည်းပေးခြင်းကို ကြိုဆိုပါသည်။
